DIY on a budget: Kitchen Makeovers
Kitchen makeovers are all in at the moment. The average kitchen replacement costs over 7k so its not surprise people are trying to give their current kitchens a makeover. From drab to fab armed with a tin of cupboard paint and some epoxy resin!
Whilst these makeovers can look great to start with, I have always been sceptical of how durable these makeovers will be against the daily use of family life. Condensation, grease and dirt are easily cleaned from worktops and tiles but not so easily from fablon and tile paint!
If you are considering doing a kitchen makeover I suggest using a good quality paint, something like farrow and ball would be ideal but a cheaper version would be frenchic! - Link below.
First clean and sand the kitchen units down to provide a key for the paint to adhere to. Then apply undercoat, preferably with a foam roller to avoid brush marks. Once this is dry start applying the paint - this will look really rubbish on the first coat but by 3rd coat it will look amazing! Leave adequate time between coats to dry as otherwise it can go tacky. Once you have got your desired look, now is time to seal it with some clear varnish. This will provide a shiny finish but it will be wipe clean so easy to keep on top of.
Grey is very popular at the moment however I prefer to be a little different so I like the navy! My kitchen doesnt need painting atm as its still is relatively good condition but if your kitchen is looking a little tired and you want to spruce it up, painting is a cheap solution. Link below:
