VE Day Celebrations
Today marks the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe and the fall of the Nazi regime in Europe. It seems a little ironic that we are currently fighting a war at this very moment, a war against covid-19. The virus has brought the world to a standstill and unlike the nazis, it is an invisible killer.
Today we sat in our garden along with our neighbours and shared laughter, cakes and music whilst observing social distancing. Families brought together by a common cause and a desire to spread some happiness and joy in these dark and uncertain times.
As the owner of a carlisle cleaning company, it fills me full of optimism for the future when neighbours can come together to support each other through these times and even though we cant physically be with our loved ones, we can try to comfort our nearby residents with fun and company they may not have had in these past weeks.
Every generation has their βwarβ and covid-19 is ours. Shops are selling out of cleaning products, DIY shops are rammed full with queues as long as your arm as we try to utilise our time to improve our homes. We arent dodging bombs or bullets, but we are trying to dodge an invisible virus which doesnt discriminate.
We will overcome this challenge and the resilience of the British people will be tested yet again BUT we will rise to the challenge and see this virus off.
Stay safe everybody!
