Be the calm in somebody elses storm

I have found with this job that you get stereotyped pretty quickly. Some people see us cleaners as low skilled workers, however some see us as keyworkers.. It all depends on your perspective I suppose.

Being a cleaner on the whole is a good job albeit hard at times! I enjoy the work as I normally work alone or with 1 other person. I enjoy the look on clients faces when they see the oven transformation and I enjoy giving people the gift of time!

As we are a Carlisle cleaning company the bulk of our work is within Carlisle meaning no long commutes which is a life saver after hours of cleaning peoples houses.

Recently we were called out to a property where the occupant had been hospitalized. Upon walking into the property, I could see blood, excrement and rubbish prominent. It was an incredibly sombre experience and one which will never leave me. I cleaned up what was required and gave the place a quick tidy whilst I was there. When the occupant returns, the last thing they need is to walk into a mess.

Suddenly on my drive home, I was reflecting on my own life and how lucky I am to have what I do! It isnt much but I have a family who cares for me, a roof over my head and food in my cupboards which is more than some people and I am incredibly grateful for this.

Being a cleaner is hard and sometimes tiring but incredibly rewarding knowing that no matter what people are going through or what their circumstances, we can bring calm and peace in the chaotic storm which is life.
